Soberton
History
Soberton was called Sudbertune in the 11th century and the doomsday book records three large estates in the parish. The manor was granted to Beaulie Abbey in the 13th century and then let to tenets until the 14th. The earl of Southampton Thomas Wriothesley purchased the land in 1549. Apart from Clare families interest others including Herbert the Chamberlain and the Winton Family also had an interest in the area.
Description
