Droxford

Description

The first grant of the land of the manor of Droxford, or Drocenesforda, was in 826 from King Egbert to the Prior and monks of St Swithun. At doomsday it was among the lands help by the bishop for his support of Winchester, but this was not a peaceful arrangement and was reclaimed in 1284.

The village of Droxford has a healthy population for a village of its size and there is a good mixture of types and accommodation. From modern detached to village cottage Droxford is extremely well balanced. When driving from Corhampton the Uplands Park Hotel greets you on the left and as you drive into the village centre a post office, store and bakery can be found along with a petrol station. Droxford Junior School is well situated for village life on Union Lane.
